De Beauvoir Design Project Management managed this project in London from start to finish. The house is located in a Conservation area so we needed to take into account local planning requirements as well take care that the new addition would sit well within its surroundings. The home design involved knocking down an existing extension & rebuilding full width, along with renovations of the main house. The project involved choosing all the fixtures and fittings. This included all the glazing which involved visits to manufacturers to check on the quality and to make sure the end product would provide the thin sight lines required. Sourcing flooring - wood and tiles, designing the interior layout and storage for the new shower room and study, specifying the kitchen layout and design. Specifying and designing the lighting layout with up to date LED's. Incorporating a home entertainment system, using specific speaker cabling required by the client who has an ear for sound. To maximise the new wider extension we incorporated a much needed second bathroom, storage room, & study, along with an up to date kitchen and new living space. The rooms are flooded with natural light, via the use of glazing: Sliding doors with thin sight lines, and skylights. To make full use of the new space, we brought the outside in with contemporary simple garden landscaping. Along with the extension came renovations to the main house which included taking up the original pine flooring and laying Dinesen flooring throughout, including the stairs. We updated the lighting in the main house to LED's, built much needed wardrobe storage space, introduced a sumptuous large family bathroom , and carried out the interior design (colour scheme and furniture). The project ran to an expected timetable, with no major hiccups, both client and builder were pleased with the outcome.
